i fail.
alex just called me because he left his phone in a cab and his flight was cancelled. well, he called on a pay phone at the airport and at a 6:30am haze and me generally having the policy to not pick up phone calls when i don’t recognize the numbers… didn’t pick up his call!
good thing he left a voicemail to tell me what was going on. i really hope they find his cell phone for...
more on men
bryanmckay answered your question: grocery store & men
To be fair though, by accepting the discount (which he clearly gave you for a reason), you’re validating that behavior.
bryan makes a good point! i am validating it, but at the same time i didn’t actually realize i was getting hit on, until i had already walked away when he made the comment. i thought he was just being friendly. i...
grocery store & men
so alex is coming tomorrow and i’m going to make him dinner for our first night together again. so i went over to the grocery store to buy some things i needed and low and behold i got hit on. TWICE! the first time was at the grocery store when i was buying salmon, the guy was speaking spanish to me, and i kind of understood him and was just being friendly. next thing i know he’s...
computerless no more!
i picked up my laptop yesterday from the apple store, and hopefully all will be working fine and dandy. i must say, i do not like having essentially a new computer. it’s quite a hassle to setup a computer just like the one you’ve had for over a year and a half. this probably isn’t the most efficient way to get it all back, but i’m importing ALL of my emails from gmail and...
day 17 update
I have an internship at Ground Control Touring starting next week
I am working at American Apparel starting… soon?
My laptop is not getting back to me til Sunday or Monday. Ugh!
Alex is coming in 4 days!!
I eat ice cream every day.
That’s it for now.
death to apple
so my laptop is now with the apple gods getting a new hard drive and hopefully i will get that back in 2-3 days. all while, my iphone is slowly dying as well. this is all coming at such a great time, since i need to still get a job and alex is coming soon and i need to figure out what we are going to do/buy tickets for things for his visit.
oh yeah and i think i’m turning into my parents...
applications i need
i just realized i lost a lot of applications i need since this hard drive crash. here is a list:
microsoft office (get install disk+serial from parents)
logic pro 8 (get parents to mail me install cd)
adobe creative suite 3/4
iwork
pd (downloadable)
there are probably more, but that’s off the top of my head.
dead & gone
my laptop’s hard drive just died. you’d think that after my external crashed i would have backed everything up right away… well, i didn’t. it was right before finals, and then i was busy getting my life in order for new york, and then i’ve been in new york and had been meaning to but didn’t. well, it’s all gone now. my external and laptop!
it all started...
urban outfitters bike shop →
urban outfitters now sells bikes! custom colors, i’m not going to lie - i sort of love it.
stories from the holly head →
i just updated this for the first time since november. i doubt most of my readers even know this blog exists… and after you read it, you might think i’m a bit crazy.
after the one week mark
the good thing about bad days? good days that follow! today was an especially good one, i’ve been in high spirits since last night’s airplane ticket purchase.
first of all, i love getting mail. and today i got a package AND two cards! my friend katie sent me a box full of 2-ply toilet paper for my bum, because she knows that me and 1-ply toilet paper do not get along. seriously,...
something to look forward to
hopefully this will help me with my homesickness…
i’m going back to san diego from oct 28-nov 3!
now that i have a plane ticket back, i just need to stay motivated and really settle into new york city. i might as well stop fighting the change and just go with it. tomorrow i am getting a taste of flushing (thanks to c.chen!) hopefully hanging out with the chinese people will make me...
things you should know about me: pet peeve edition
i hate hate hate when people call me when they’re walking out the door. do not call me for the sake of saying you’ve called me, when you have no intention to actually talk to me. if you really want to talk to someone, you set time aside to have a real conversation. i don’t want a 30 second phone call saying, oh i wanted to talk, but i’m actually on my way out the door.

yuca bar recap
we missed happy hour, so the tapas that were 50% off were of course, not. it was tasty, but maybe not worth $15 kind of tasty for the amount of food i ate. we got six dishes and split them between five people. i’d definitely go back during happy hour next time.
not to interview
so in efforts to be productive today, i applied to a bunch of jobs on craigslist, and without thinking i applied to a few personal assistant positions. one of them emailed me back right away asking if i could come in today for an interview. which is when i realized, i probably shouldn’t be applying to jobs until i figure out what is going on with this internship i am interview for on monday....
another thing i miss...
cable tv, dvr, and showtime… i wonder how much it would cost to get that in new york…
mail forwarding...
i just applied for mail forwarding with USPS. i hope that means my nylon subscription will be forwarded here since i have a new subscription and i haven’t had any issues come yet. oh, and my tape op subscription too!
the job hunt continues
so i’ve been using craigslist and nyfa the most for applying to jobs in the city. i’m debating whether or not it is worth my money to pay for a subscription to EntertainmentJobs.com or 4EntertainmentJobs.com. i have applied to a ton of jobs with no response. and yes, follow up is key - but i feel slightly odd following up to an anonymous email address from craigslist.
in any case, i...
day 5 update
the fantasy of living in new york has worn off and reality is setting in. right about now i’ve realized that moving to new york was probably a big mistake. and for a number of reasons.
1- the most logical of the bunch: i am currently unemployed living in one of the most expensive cities in the united states, with almost no money in savings. the little money i have is rapidly diminishing and...
day 3 update...
i finally went grocery shopping, here are a few thoughts on that…
markets here are smaller, more cramped, dirtier, and overall more expensive.
i can’t really afford to eat… so i only bought bread, grapes, avocado, brie, mixed salad greens, cereal, milk, pasta, pasta sauce, and crackers.
i calculated how much money i have for the rest of the month, and let’s just say...
