Annie - I Don't Like Your Band with 9 Plays.

    Annie - I Don’t Like Your Band

I feel like this is my theme song for my job, because of all the people that awkwardly come drop of demos or sing to me on the phone or try to talk my ear off selling me on their music.

As Annie sings: “I like you, But I don’t like your band”

Do you have a work theme song?

    Met Museum Paid Internships link

The Metropolitan Museum has some really good paid internship programs that range from a summer to a year. The stipends provided allow the intern to be able to work full time in New York City with enough money to pay for rent and food. If you are looking for a curatorial or educational media internship, this might be the one! They also have a program for an internship at The Cloisters which focuses on medieval art, located in Washington Heights. However, I’m sure they are extremely competitive due to the limited amount of spaces and the prestige of the museum.

Applications are done in the winter for the following summer. All summer, sixth month, and year long internships all begin in the summer and continue on for whatever duration your internship requires.

Click through to the link above for job descriptions and application information.

    Currently Loving: Steven Alan

    (Photos from Steven Alan website)

If you aren’t fortunate to live in New York, Los Angeles, or Seoul, you should definitely check out their online store. Lucky for me, there are 5 stores in the New York area, one of which is in Tribeca near my apartment. Although some of the items can be pricey, they have decent sales all the time. Those are just some of the things I’m liking right now. My brain is still in summer mode, but the stores are all ready for fall!

Alex and I love making breakfast on the weekends. On Sunday morning we made our typical steel cut oats with blueberries and bananas. Joined with some cherries and Alex’s new obsession (and an old favorite of mine): Bolthouse Farms juice.

If you are a fan of Naked juice, I’d recommend switching over to Bolthouse. At the Whole Foods across the street from my apartment, it is not only cheaper but I believe to be a higher quality product. I would recommend one of my favorites: Green Goodness for a healthy serving of fruit and a lot of other things you are probably missing from your diet. I’ve tried most of the flavors, but the one I’m dying to try is the 50/50 with Carrot Juice and Passion Fruit Juice! They also have a line of juices called Bom Dia, which is an acai based juice that has different flavors as well.

On Saturday, me and Alex took a nice (but very hot) long walk over to Organicoa up at Pier 45. I hadn’t realized walking up the West Side Highway was such a nice experience! When we arrived I saw a lovely cafe with a grassy pier on the left where people were sunbathing on the lawn.

We shared a ginger lemonade, and I had a grilled cheese with tomato and avocado, and Alex had the Wally Burger. I purchased a Groupon for it, so I paid $10 or $20 worth of food in advance, and both of our meals combined cost less than $20! I was also impressed with the entire transaction because I didn’t have to print out the coupon, but instead had the entire transaction done on my iPhone, which is really nice for me, because I haven’t had a printer at home since I moved to New York.

The whole experience was pleasant enough. The actual portions weren’t huge, but with the weather being so hot out, we weren’t that hungry to begin with. Also, some of the food was pre-packaged like the wraps, also they sold Klondike Bars for $2, which isn’t organic. My favorite part was probably the ginger lemonade, which I thought was spectacular, but Alex thought was too strong. Would I go again? Yes. But it won’t be the first place on my list.

    The Clientele - Bookshop Casanova

If you haven’t heard of The Clientele, you are missing out. One of my favorite bands. I was listening to them all morning.

Me and Alex are going to take a nice walk over to Organicoa today. Hopefully it won’t be too bad since we’ll be walking up the West Side Highway. I had bought a Groupon for this place a week ago, and I’m really looking forward to trying their food. The menu is surprisingly cheap for organic eats (the most expensive item is the Sustainable Steak Sandwich - $10!) I hope everyone else has fun weekend plans!

    Looking for an intern

If this were last summer and I had just moved to New York and was looking for an internship/job. This would be the one!

    staff:

The time has come! We are officially looking for a part-time Community Intern to help with Meetups, Events, and Press.

You should love: People, Tumblr, email, the post office, and getting paid to do amazing things with awesome people.

We totally love: All of the same stuff, minus the post office (but even that is kind of hilarious if you’re in the right mood).

If you live near NYC and are interested in hearing more, please email jobs@tumblr.com.

    Thank you!

Me and Alex at Siren/Coney Island this past weekend. I never go all out at Siren because it’s so hot out it’s pretty unbearable for me.

I’m sporting some Knockarounds and Alex is wearing some Paul Frank sunglasses he found abandoned in San Diego.
